The Superior Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will award (4) $1000 scholarships to women completing their second year of post high school education or continuing their education for career advancement, or returning to the work field.
Applications may be obtained by downloading pdf from link below or contacting:

Dear Directors of Religious Education and Youth Ministers,
Greetings! The Superior Diocesan Council of Catholic Women is initiating a new program entitled, “The Golden Rose Award Program!” The SDCCW is asking that you consider nominating a young lady – high school age student, from your parish that is active in parish and community activities. A letter directed to the priests/deacons in the Diocese of Superior is being sent to inform them of this program and increase the awareness of the program.
The award recognizes one girl, nominated from a parish, whose lifestyle exemplifies the mission statement of the National Council of Catholic Women reflected by actions of Spirituality, Leadership, and Service.
Criteria for nomination: a young woman
The goal of the program is to recognize and promote the value of young women who make a difference in their parish and community.
These young ladies will be honored at a luncheon with Bishop Powers during the SDCCW Annual Convention at the. Bishop Powers will be presenting the nominees with the Golden Rose Award and an Individual Student Membership in the National Council of Catholic Women.
Attached is a Nomination Form for you to submit.
Deadline is May 10, 2025.

- who exhibits leadership skills.
- is involved in a service project(s).
- is a practicing Catholic who attends week-end Mass regularly.
- exhibits a level of spirituality reflected by her prayer life.

The award encompasses all parishes in the Diocese of Superior and is a way your parish community can recognize and honor the devout, hardworking Christian women within your parishes. Women who live their faith as an example for us all. Nominees may be either lay or religious, single or married women. Each parish is encouraged to nominate one woman for this award annually.
This award is presented by the Bishop of the Diocese of Superior to recognize and honor a catholic women in each of our five deaneries with remarkable dedication and contributions in the respective parishes.

The 2023 convention theme is Path of Renewed Encounter from Chapter 7 of Fratelli Tutti with subthemes of peace, forgiveness, harmony, social justice, end to the death penalty, violence/war, and the Mystery of the Eucharist in the life of the Church. The speakers will be: Krisanne Vaillancourt Murphy (Executive Director of Catholic Mobilizing Network), Donna Stoering (piano prodigy and philanthropist), and Jean Welch Hill (Director of the Criminal Justice Initiatives for Salt Lake City). The panel presentation will be Julie Boerio-Goates, Susan Northway, and Kimberly Tosti. All speakers, with the exception of Krisanne, are from the Diocese of Salt Lake City. We look forward to their participation at the convention.
